A tragic accident in the early hours of Friday left three women critically injured in Motihari’s Rajabazar area in Bihar after a speeding car ran over them during their morning walk.

The incident occurred around 4 a.m. near the local auditorium, under the jurisdiction of Nagar police station.

According to eyewitnesses and police sources, the vehicle first rammed into a tree, then hit an electric pole before ploughing into the victims -- two women and a teenage girl -- who were walking along the roadside.

Locals rushed the injured to Rehmania Medical Centre, where all are reported to be in critical condition.

The weather has turned pleasant across Delhi-NCR as drop in both minimum and maximum temperature has brought relief to the people from the scorching heat.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the next five days, forecasting rain and strong winds across the region.

On June 20, the maximum temperature is not likely to exceed 36 degrees Celsius, and the minimum is 27 degrees Celsius.

On June 21, the temperature is expected to hover around 37 degrees C (max) and 28 degrees C (min), with humidity between 80 per cent and 82 per cent.

The Ministry of Civil Aviation on Thursday clarified that no decision has been taken as yet on sending abroad the cockpit voice recorder (CVR) or the digital flight data recorder (DFDR) of the crashed AI171 flight for retrieval and analysis.

"It has been reported in certain media outlets that the CVR/DFDR from the ill-fated AI171 flight is being sent abroad for retrieval and analysis. The decision regarding the location for decoding the flight recorders will be taken by the AAIB (Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau) after due assessment of all technical, safety, and security considerations," a ministry statement said.

A small-time tea stall owner in Seelampur became the unsuspecting victim of a sophisticated cyber fraud that resulted in the loss of Rs 2.36 lakh from his wife’s bank account.

However, swift action by the Cyber Police of Delhi's North-East District led to the arrest of a 21-year-old cyber fraudster and recovery of key evidence, including a mobile phone and SIM cards used in the crime.

The complainant, Gareeb Nath Gupta, a resident of Sonia Vihar who runs a tea stall near Seelampur Bus Stand, approached the Cyber Police Station on June 4.

He reported that his Samsung keypad phone — containing a functioning SIM card — had gone missing on May 27.

At least 10 people have died and 25 others injured as continuous heavy rainfall wreaked havoc across Jharkhand over the last 48 hours, officials said on Thursday.

Several bridges have been washed away, houses have collapsed, and low-lying areas have been submerged, prompting the deployment of NDRF teams for rescue operations.

Urban centres including Ranchi, Hazaribagh, Ramgarh, Jamshedpur, Chatra, and Simdega, have reported severe waterlogging, while rural areas bore the brunt of infrastructure damage.

Over 20 incidents of house and well collapses, lightning strikes, and road accidents have been reported from across the state.

In a major crackdown on illegal immigration, the Delhi Police has detained 17 Bangladeshi nationals residing unlawfully in the national Capital.

The operation was carried out by a dedicated team of officers from the Vasant Kunj South Police Station under the South-West District, resulting in the initiation of deportation proceedings in coordination with the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO), Delhi.

The migrants, including several women and children, were found staying without valid documents. Among them was a woman who went into labour during the detention process and gave birth to a baby boy at Safdarjung Hospital.

All 17 individuals, including the newborn, have been transferred to the detention centre at PP Badola, PS Mahindra Park, pending deportation.

In a major breakthrough, the Delhi Police arrested three members of a pickpocket and cyber fraud gang that stole a mobile phone on a city bus and siphoned off over Rs 7.2 lakh by creating a fake UPI ID using the victim's Aadhaar details before heading for a pilgrimage to Dehradun, Haridwar and Kedarnath.

The incident dates back to May 24, when complainant Sukhbir Singh was returning home in bus number 835.

His phone was stolen by a group of pickpockets. Shockingly, four days later he discovered that Rs 7.2 lakh had been withdrawn fraudulently from his three bank accounts.

An e-FIR was registered as PS Najafgarh under Section 303(2) of the BNS.

The probe revealed that the accused accessed an Aadhaar card image stored in the victim's stolen mobile and used it to create a forged UPI ID, linking it to the victim's bank accounts.

Gujarat’s early monsoon showers have turned catastrophic as incessant rainfall triggered flash floods, building collapses, large-scale evacuations, and loss of life across multiple districts. The state saw heavy rainfall on June 16, 17 and 18, which claimed the lives of seven members of a family in Botad, and over 100 people have been rescued from various flood-affected areas.

In Bhavnagar district, villages across the Bhal region remain submerged, days after intense rainfall battered the area.

Vast tracts of land are still waterlogged. On June 18, the Bhavnagar Fire Department carried out a high-risk rescue operation near Kamlej village, saving 58 people -- including 10 women and nine children --trapped in floodwaters up to two kilometres from the nearest accessible point. Firefighters used a boat engine to navigate the swift waters, pulling stranded residents to safety. The disaster extended to livestock as well.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday launched raids at several locations in Ranchi's Bariatu area as well as in Patna and Nalanda in Bihar in connection with the 2024 NEET-UG paper leak case, now being probed for money laundering.

According to sources, the ED is investigating financial transactions involving Sanjeev Mukhiya, a Bihar resident believed to be the mastermind of the leak, along with several of his relatives and associates.

The agency initiated a money laundering probe after the CBI, which is investigating the leak, uncovered evidence of large-scale cash transactions. The ED had registered an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) in this regard.

The paper leak first came to light in May 2024, following the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) for undergraduate medical courses.
