Inauguration of Seven-Day Faculty Induction Programme for Newly Recruited SGPC Teachers at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University

The seven-day Faculty Induction Programme for newly recruited teachers of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) was inaugurated today at Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib. The event is organized under the aegis of the Directorate of Education, SGPC, and is coordinated by the Department of Education of the University. Dr. Harneet Billing, Head of the Department of Education, shared that this programme aims to align the new faculty members with the vision and mission of SGPC in education. The inaugural session was graced by the Vice-Chancellor Prof.(Dr.) Pritpal Singh who delivered an inspiring speech on “The Vision of SGPC in Education”. He emphasized the holistic development of students grounded in Sikh values and principles, highlighting the SGPC’s unwavering commitment to nurturing excellence and moral integrity in its educational institutions. Dean Academic Affairs Prof.(Dr.) Sukhwinder Singh Billing deliberated on the “Vision and Achievements of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University”. Prof. Billing detailed the University’s journey, its role in preserving the Sikh heritage, and its strides in delivering quality education, while upholding spiritual values. The first day of the programme featured a series of enriching sessions. Dr. Hardev Singh, Head of the Department of Guru Granth Sahib Religious Studies, led a session on the Sikh Philosophy of Education, emphasizing the spiritual and moral dimensions of teaching. In the afternoon session, S. Gurdeep Singh Kang, Manager of Gurdwara Fatehgarh Sahib, led a session on Reflective Practice for Continuous Self-Improvement, underlining the significance of self-awareness and reflection in the teaching journey.
