Raipur-bound IndiGo flight develops 'technical snag', passengers safe

An IndiGo flight from Indore to Raipur became an unsettling experience for 51 passengers on Tuesday when it developed a technical fault and made an emergency landing shortly after takeoff.

The aircraft, typically scheduled to depart at 6:35 a.m., left seven minutes early at 6:28 a.m. from Devi Ahilyabai Holkar Airport.

Around 30 minutes into the journey, approximately 100 kilometres away from the Indore airport, the aircraft reportedly experienced a sudden jolt, causing panic among passengers.

A chilling double murder rocked Delhi once again as a woman and a 6-month-old infant were found stabbed to death in the Majnu Ka Tila area on Tuesday.

The police confirmed that the suspect, believed to be the woman's boyfriend, is currently absconding.

According to police officials, the deceased woman has been identified as Sonal. The infant was the daughter of Sonal's friend Rashmi.

Indian exporters have welcomed the US decision to postpone the tariff hikes on imports from July 9 to August 1, as this will allow more time for talks to sort out the trade issues.

Director General of the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) Ajay Sahai said that this deferment of the imposition of reciprocal tariffs reflects the US's willingness to engage constructively with its trading partners.

"It provides an extended window for dialogue, which can help our negotiators to sort out remaining contentious issues," he pointed out.

The Indian stock market closed in positive territory on Tuesday, inching up in a range of 0.3 per cent, as investors remained cautious ahead of the India-US trade deal which is likely to materialise soon.

Sensex closed at 83,712.51, up 270.01 points or 0.32 per cent against the previous session's closing of 83,442.50. The 30-share index hit an intra-day high at 83,812.31 after starting the session in negative territory at 83,387.03.

The temperature in Seoul soared to 37.7 degrees Celsius at around 3 p.m. (local time) on Tuesday, the highest temperature ever recorded for early July in South Korea's capital city since record-keeping began in 1908, the state weather agency said.

The record was broken after 86 years as the previous record high for the first 10 days of July in Seoul was 36.8 degrees Celsius filed on July 9, 1939, according to the agency.

Bomb threats at City Civil Courts, Raj Bhavan, and a couple of other places in Hyderabad created a scare on Tuesday, prompting police to launch a thorough search of the premises.

Police went on alert after an email threatened bomb blasts at the City Civil Court in the old city, the Raj Bhavan, the Gymkhana Club, and the Secunderabad Civil Court.

The email reportedly received at the City Civil Court in the old city threatened that RDX-based improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were planted at these places.

Police swung into action to launch a search at all four places with the help of bomb disposal and sniffer dog squads.

Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), India’s top platform for trading commodity derivatives, on Tuesday announced that it will launch an electricity futures contract from July 10.

This new offering aims to meet the growing demand for tools that help manage the risks of fluctuating electricity prices.

Praveena Rai, Managing Director and CEO of MCX, said that the new contract would play an important role in making India’s energy markets deeper and more structured.

She also added that the launch would support the country’s goal of achieving a sustainable and market-driven approach to electricity pricing.
