Indian real estate sector turns optimistic for future growth amid robust sentiment: Report

India’s real estate stakeholders appear to be responding positively to improving macroeconomic indicators, a report said on Tuesday, as the Sentiment Index rose to 56 in April-June period (Q2) from 54 in Q1 this year, snapping a four-quarter downward streak.

The ‘Future Sentiment Score’ also climbed to 61 in the quarter from 56 a quarter ago, signalling a renewed sense of confidence and cautious optimism about the sector’s performance in the next six months, according to the Knight Frank-NAREDCO ‘Real Estate Sentiment Index for Q2 2025 (April-June).’

This marks a significant shift in the mood of the Indian real estate sector. Following a year-long moderation in sentiment, stakeholders are beginning to look beyond short-term global uncertainties and are anchoring their expectations on India’s structural economic strength, accommodative monetary policy, and robust demand in premium residential and office segments.

Jaipur receives heaviest one-day rainfall in a decade

Jaipur has witnessed its heaviest one-day rainfall in 10 years, said the Meteorological (MeT) Department officials on Tuesday.

The city on Monday recorded 111 mm (over four inches) of rain at JLN Marg. Other parts of the city also saw significant rainfall, with 55 mm recorded at the Collectorate, 74 mm in Sanganer, and 12 mm in Amer. This is the highest single-day figure since 2014. The record for Jaipur remains 326 mm, set in 1981, said the MeT officials.

The intense rain, which began Monday evening, disrupted daily life, especially for office-goers returning home. Two-wheeler riders were the worst affected as streets quickly became inundated, leading to chaos across the city.

Monday's rainfall brought more trouble than relief. In Jaipur, the 4.5 inches of rain fell in just two and a half hours, flooding roads and turning streets into virtual rivers. Traffic jams were reported from several parts of the city, and on Ajmer Road, vehicles were seen floating in waterlogged streets.

Hong Kong issues 1st black rainstorm warning of year

The Hong Kong Observatory issued on Tuesday morning its first black rainstorm warning signal of the year, which remains in effect as of the time of this report.

The black rainstorm warning signal indicates that widespread areas of Hong Kong have recorded or are expected to experience rainfall exceeding 70 mm per hour, with the heavy downpour likely to continue.

The Observatory noted that the strong thunderstorm activity associated with an extensive low-pressure trough has resulted in particularly intense rainfall on Lamma Island, where hourly precipitation has surpassed 100 mm.

Following the issuance of the signal, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) government activated its Emergency Coordination Centre under the Home Affairs Department. The department will open temporary shelter centres for individuals in need of emergency accommodation. The Education Bureau has advised schools to implement contingency measures to ensure the safety of students.
