Sanjeev Kumar Sood Appointed as Director/Technical, PSTCL

Govt of Punjab has appointed Sanjeev Kumar Sood as new Director/Technical of PSTCL .A seasoned professional in the power sector, Sood brings with him over 34 years of rich experience in key areas of electricity transmission and distribution in Punjab.

Sood began his professional journey with the Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, where he served for two years before transitioning to the state power sector. Since then, he has steadily risen through the ranks, holding a variety of crucial technical and leadership positions at both Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) and PSTCL.

In 2022, he was promoted to Chief Engineer (CE), a position he held for nearly three years. During this tenure, he spearheaded the commissioning of 400 kV substations at Dhanasu and Ropar, and was instrumental in reviving critical 220 kV projects at Sherpur (GIS) and Budhladha (AIS).

Punjab Police bust terror module operated by foreign handlers

In a breakthrough against Pakistan's ISI-backed terror networks, Punjab Police have busted a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) terror module operated by foreign-based handlers Maninder Billa and Mannu Agwan on the directions of Harwinder Singh Rinda, Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said on Tuesday.

He said six operatives -- Jatin Kumar, alias Rohan, Barinder Singh, alias Sajan, Rahul Masih, Abraham, alias Rohit, Sohit, and Sunil Kumar -- have been arrested. The module had attempted a grenade attack outside a liquor store in Batala town.

The accused were receiving direct instructions from Portugal-based Maninder Billa and BKI mastermind Mannu Agwan, who has recently assumed operational charge after the arrest of Happy Passian in the US. Jatin Kumar was injured in the exchange of fire while being taken for recovery.

Low-key Beating Retreat ceremony at 3 India-Pak border points in Punjab resumes today

After 10 days of ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Beating Retreat ceremony by the Border Security Force (BSF) is set to resume on Tuesday evening in a scaled-down version at the Attari-Wagah, Hussainiwala, and Fazilka borders, all situated in Punjab.

This comes after a 12-day pause amid military conflict between the two countries.

Officials informed that there will be no handshake with armed personnel on the Pakistani side or the opening of border gates; however, audiences will still be permitted to witness the ceremony.

The ceremonies will take place at 6 p.m. at the Attari border near Amritsar, the Hussainiwala border in Ferozepur, and the Sadqi border in Fazilka.

Major General Kartik C Seshadri, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 15th Infantry Division, said Pakistan attempted to target the Golden Temple in Amritsar with drones and missiles on the intervening night of May 7-8 in retaliation against India’s strikes on nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

ACT AS WATCHDOGS TO CHECK THE MENACE OF DRUGS AND SAVE OUR COMING GENERATIONS: BHAGWANT MANN AND KEJRIWAL URGE PEOPLE

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and National Convener of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Arvind Kejriwal on Friday gave clarion call to the people of the state to act as watchdogs for checking the menace of drugs to save our coming generations.

Addressing the gathering in a function to administer oath to people, the Chief Minister said that it is heartening to learn that people are saying that things have changed in the villages after the launch of Yudh Nasheyan Virudh. He said that this decisive war against drugs has been meticulously planned and flawlessly executed due to which it is giving desired results. Subsequently, Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the drug line was snapped, smugglers were nabbed and rehabilitation of drug victims was ensured.

The Chief Minister said that the state government will not sit idly and watch the smugglers bloom at the cost of the dead bodies and pyres of the drug victims. Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the state government has already snapped the supply line of drugs and big fishes involved in this heinous crime have been put behind the bars. He said that for the first time the property of the drug smugglers acquired illegally are being destroyed/ confiscated by the state government so that it acts as a deterrent for others.
