ISL clubs condemn Pahalgam terror attack, BFC to wear black armband against Inter Kashi

On what is truly a sad day for the country, football clubs from all parts of India took to social media to express their grief following a devastating terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Bengaluru FC confirmed that they will be observing a minute’s silence and wear black armbands as a mark of respect during their clash against Inter Kashi on Wednesday in the Round of 16 of the Kalinga Super Cup.

"Bengaluru FC stands in solidarity with the victims, their families, and all those affected in the #PahalgamAttack. A minute's silence will be observed ahead of today's #KalingaSuperCup fixture, where the Blues will wear black armbands as a mark of respect," posted BFC.

The terror attack took place in the Baisaran Valley, a scenic meadow situated in Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination about 30 miles southeast of Srinagar on Tuesday, sending shockwaves throughout the country.

IPL 2025: Effort to promote Miller was to see if things could change, says LSG coach Dahiya

IPL 2025: Effort to promote Miller was to see if things could change, says LSG coach Dahiya

Vijay Dahiya, the assistant coach of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defended the move of promoting David Miller to number five batting spot during their eight-wicket defeat to Delhi Capitals (DC), citing it as a way to reverse the team’s declining run-rate following three quick dismissals.

At the BRSABV Ekana Stadium, Miller came out to bat after Abdul Samad’s promotion didn’t yield anything substantial. But Miller could only make 14 off 15 balls as impact player Ayush Badoni slammed a quick 21-ball 36, as LSG made 159/6, which DC chased down in 17.5 overs.

Miller’s promotion also meant that skipper Rishabh Pant came out to bat at seven, and made just a two-ball duck. "I think in the T20 format, there is only one plan, and that is to have a lot of plans. Nothing is decided in this game. You try to understand how the game is going and how you will try to ride I”

Ligue 1: PSG make history with unbeaten streak in draw against Nantes

Paris Saint-Germain made history with their unbeaten run in Ligue 1 with a 1-1 draw against FC Nantes at Stade de la Beaujoire

PSG have not lost any of their last 39 away matches in Ligue 1 (30 wins, nine draws), marking the longest unbeaten away streak by any club in the history of the top five European leagues, surpassing AC Milan's run of 38 from 1991 to 1993.

The opening goal of the contest came midway in the 33rd minute with Vitinha breaking the scoreless deadlock. Vitinha played the ball out to the right for Ousmane Dembélé, who accelerated and found Kang-in Lee in the middle.

After a touch to control it, the South Korean managed to play a first-time pass to his left for Vitinha, despite a challenge from Nathan Zeze that left him on the ground. The Portuguese midfielder charged into the box and fired with his left foot, sending the ball into the back of the net, Ligue 1 reports.

Olmo strike sends Barcelona seven clear in La Liga

Olmo strike sends Barcelona seven clear in La Liga

Dani Olmo's second-half goal allowed FC Barcelona to extend its lead at the top of La Liga to seven points over Real Madrid with a 1-0 win at home to Mallorca.

Barcelona dominated the game, but was denied time after time by a magnificent display from Mallorca goalkeeper Leo Roman, who made a string of excellent saves.

With the Copa del Rey final on Saturday and Robert Lewandowski injured, Barca coach Hansi Flick brought Hector Fort into defense, while Eric Garcia started in midfield, and there was a rare appearance for Ansu Fati in the starting 11, reports.

With a slightly makeshift defense, Barcelona looked slightly vulnerable in the opening minutes but quickly took control, with Pedri controlling everything in midfield.

IPL 2025: Mukesh Kumar’s four-fer helps DC restrict LSG to 159/6

Pacer Mukesh Kumar picked four scalps after a fiery start by Aiden Markram (52) and Mitchell Marsh (45), to help Delhi Capitals restrict Lucknow Super Giants to 159/6 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium here on Tuesday.

After electing to bowl first in this top-of-the-table clash, Axar Patel surprised everyone by leading them from the front and taking the new ball to bowl out his quota in the first seven overs. The DC skipper ended with economical figures of 0-29 in his four-over quota, helping limit the destruction caused by Markram and Marsh in the power-play this season, but the duo targeted the pace attack of Mitchell Starc, Dushmantha Chameera, and Mukesh Kumar.

Markram raised his half-century in 30 deliveries and seemed to be in top form before trying to clear Chameera’s outside-off delivery over the long boundary on the offside and was caught by Tristan Stubbs. Just like clockwork, Axar deployed his most economical asset this season in Kuldeep Yadav, but Nicholas Pooran (9) had other ideas and struck him for consecutive boundaries to start his innings.

However, his time at the crease was short-lived as a slower bouncer by Starc saw Pooran nick the ball onto his own stumps to deliver the second blow. It was the fifth time, in seven T20 meetings between the two players, that Starc had the West Indies power hitter’s number.

IPL 2025: DC elect to bowl first in crucial clash with LSG

Delhi Capitals have won the toss and elected to field first against Lucknow Super Giants, in Match 40 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium. It is a crucial encounter for both teams coming into the game tied on 10 points.

The two sides had previously met in their opening encounter, with Delhi prevailing by one wicket on a night when Ashutosh Sharma pulled off an incredible run-chase of 210.

Lucknow's top order has been a dependable engine this season. The trio of Mitchell Marsh, Nicholas Pooran, and Aiden Markram have clicked more often than not, providing their side with consistent platforms in the Powerplay. Pooran's fearless striking, combined with Marsh’s calculated aggression and Markram’s composure, has made LSG’s batting unit a force to be reckoned with.

Skipper Rishabh Pant confirmed his side will be coming into the game with an unchanged XI.

IPL 2025: Desperate Sunrisers Hyderabad eye revenge against resurgent Mumbai Indians

The Indian Premier League 2025 caravan returns to Hyderabad for a high-stakes clash between a struggling Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and a resurgent Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium here on Wednesday. For the hosts, this fixture is more than just another game — it’s a crucial shot at revival in what has been a disappointing campaign so far.

With only two wins in seven outings, Pat Cummins’ side is under immense pressure to turn things around. Their campaign has been riddled with inconsistency, especially in the batting department which, despite boasting of explosive names, has flattered to deceive. The bowling unit too has lacked bite, and the combination of both has left SRH languishing in the bottom half of the table.

SRH’s vulnerabilities on slow, turning tracks have been thoroughly exposed this season. Their recent four-wicket defeat to Mumbai Indians in Mumbai, on a surface that offered grip and turn, highlighted their inability to adapt. Even home advantage hasn’t worked in their favour — the team has lost two out of three matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

IPL 2025: Pujara calls out unclear communication and bowling failure in KKR’s defeat

IPL 2025: Pujara calls out unclear communication and bowling failure in KKR’s defeat

India Test batter Cheteshwar Pujara has weighed in on Kolkata Knight Riders’ alarming batting approach in their 39-run loss to Gujarat Titans, questioning not just Venkatesh Iyer’s lack of intent but also the team’s planning and communication from the dugout.

Venkatesh was promoted to No. 4 to counter Gujarat’s left-arm spinner Sai Kishore and leg-spinner Rashid Khan. However, the left-hander failed to justify the move, scoring a scratchy 14 off 19 balls without hitting a boundary.

“I do agree that Venkatesh didn’t play the role he should have. But was he told to just survive? Was the message from the dugout to simply knock it around when Rashid was bowling?” Pujara said on ESPNcricinfo’s Time Out

For Pujara, it wasn’t just about individual decision-making but a larger question of tactical clarity. “Timeouts exist for a reason. When you realise things aren’t working, the support staff must intervene and give a clear directive. That seems to have been missing.”
