One more repo rate cut expected this fiscal, GDP to grow at 6.5 pc: Crisil

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has chosen to frontload its rate cuts, turning to support growth amid benign inflation prospects, according to a Crisil report, which expects one more repo rate cut this fiscal (FY26), and a pause after that.

The global ratings agency also expects India’s GDP at 6.5 per cent this fiscal, with risks on the downside due to US tariff hikes.

Crisol listed some factors which are expected to help domestic growth hold up against global tariff risks.

“Positive outlook on rains and crude oil prices and healthy external accounts — low current account deficit and low short-term debt — with sufficient forex reserves will provide a buffer against global turbulence,” said the global financial insights major.

NIA files chargesheet against Maoist for Army jawan's targeted killing

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a chargesheet against Maoist cadre Ashu Korsa in connection with the targeted killing of an Indian Army jawan, Motiram Achala, in Chhattisgarh.

The chargesheet, filed in the NIA special court in Jagdalpur, outlines Korsa's involvement in a larger conspiracy orchestrated by the banned CPI (Maoist) to eliminate Achala.

Achala, a soldier visiting his native village, was brutally shot dead on February 25, 2024, while attending a local fair in Useli village in the Amabeda area of Kanker district.

The attack, carried out in full public view, was intended to instil fear among locals and deter individuals associated with security forces.

Lending rates likely to fall by 30 bps after policy rate cut: SBI

Lending rates likely to fall by 30 bps after policy rate cut: SBI

Lending rates are expected to drop by about 30 basis points (bps) after the recent cut in policy rates, according to a new SBI report.

This change will be felt most immediately in loans linked to the External Benchmark Lending Rate (EBLR), which account for around 60 per cent of all loans given by Scheduled Commercial Banks (ASCBs), as per the data compiled by State Bank of India (SBI) Research said.

The report said that because of this high share of EBLR-linked loans, the impact of the policy rate cut will be passed on quickly, making loans cheaper for many borrowers.

“This move is aimed at reducing borrowing costs and boosting demand in the economy,” the report added.

SEBI amends IndusInd Bank order, names top executives amid ongoing probe

SEBI amends IndusInd Bank order, names top executives amid ongoing probe

The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has issued a corrigendum to its interim order against IndusInd Bank Limited, replacing a key reference to clarify the nature of documents involved in the bank’s internal dealings.

The market regulator said the term ‘board note’ used in its earlier order would now be read as ‘engagement note’.

This correction comes as SEBI continues to investigate accounting irregularities at the private sector lender.

Earlier, the regulator had mentioned that global consulting firm KPMG was appointed by IndusInd Bank in February 2024 based on a ‘board note’.

However, it has now clarified that KPMG’s appointment was actually based on an ‘engagement note’, a less formal document usually used for assigning tasks to external consultants.

'I think it’s the right move': Ponting backs Gill’s elevation as Test captain

Australia legend Ricky Ponting has thrown his weight behind Shubman Gill as India’s new Test captain and outlined how he believes the side could shape up for their upcoming five-Test tour of England — their first without stalwarts Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma.

Both Kohli and Rohit, two of India’s modern greats, announced their retirements from Test cricket earlier this month, prompting a generational shift as India looks to the future. At just 25, Gill has been entrusted with the captaincy — a move that raised eyebrows among some pundits, but not Ponting.
