Students of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University Visited Supreme Court and Rashtrapati Bhavan

Forty Law students of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib recently visited the Supreme Court of India, Rashtrapati Bhavan, the Indian Law Institute, and various government institutes and museums at New Delhi. The tour was organized by the Univerdity School of law in order to provide students with practical exposure to India’s legal and governmental systems. Prof. (Dr.) Amita Kaushal, Head and Dean of the faculty of Law expressed her delight over their exposure the students gained by observing live court proceedings, gaining a direct understanding of judicial processes. Many students noted the value of witnessing legal arguments in action, which deepened their professional perspective. She appreciated Dr. Navneet Kaur, In-charge and Mr. Amritpal Singh for coordinating the tour. The students later visited Rashtrapati Bhavan which offered insights into India’s constitutional framework, while the Indian Law Institute exposed students to advanced legal research. The students also visited various government institutes and museums which broadened their knowledge of governance and cultural heritage.

Amritsar shocker: Two gunmen kill youth in daylight shooting, flee the scene

In a shocking daylight incident, a man was shot dead by two assailants on a motorcycle in the bustling Kathiawala Bazaar of Amritsar. The deceased has been identified as Ravneet Singh, also known as Sonu Mota, a local resident. One of the assailants has also been identified, police said.

The deceased was on a scooter when he was attacked.

The assailants opened fire on Ravneet Singh in a crowded area and fled the scene immediately after the attack, causing panic and chaos among bystanders. The incident took place in broad daylight, raising serious questions about public safety and law enforcement in the area.

CM Bhagwant Mann directs to mobilise Village and Ward Defence Committees for state-wide anti-drug awareness and action campaign

Gearing up for final and decisive assault on the menace of drugs in the state, the Punjab government led by the Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has decided to embark anti-drug awareness and action campaign- “Nasha Mukti Yatra”, which will be touching every village and wards of state in the months of May and June 2025.

Divulging the details a spokesperson of the Chief Minister’s Office said that the drive will be organized by closely involving the Village Defence Committees (VDCs) to organize district-wise meetings across the state from May 2-4. These meetings will serve as the official launch platform for the “Nasha Mukti Yatra" campaign. Besides all members of the VDCs, this meeting shall also be attended by the Village Sarpanches, Civil and Police Administration along with others.

Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, through a collaborative initiative between the Department of Biotechnology and the Centre for Scientific Research and Innovation (CSRI), organized a five-day Quality Enhancement Workshop on Molecular Biology Techniques, aimed at equipping students with hands-on training and in-depth understanding of key experimental approaches in Biotechnology. The workshop witnessed active participation from the students of Departments of Biotechnology, Zoology, Food Processing Technology, and Botany and Environmental Sciences, reflecting a strong interdisciplinary interest in molecular biology. The workshop commenced with a session by Dr. Rupinder Kaur, Head of the Department, who delivered a practical demonstration on PCR amplification, outlining its significance in molecular diagnostics and research. On Day 2 and 3, Dr. Nancy, Assistant Professor, Department of Biotechnology, led the sessions on Plasmid DNA isolation and the SDS-PAGE technique, offering comprehensive training on nucleic acid extraction and protein separation.

The Punjab government has taken a stern stance on the shooting incident at the home of an NRI family in Amritsar. On Saturday, NRI Affairs Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal met the affected family and assured them of justice.

Dhaliwal stated that strict action would be taken against the culprits involved in this incident and assured action against the local SHO for negligence in handling the case. He mentioned that as soon as he learned of the incident, he spoke to the Police Commissioner of Amritsar and directed immediate action.
