GNDU and CSTT Launch Five-Day National Workshop to Develop Bilingual Commerce Glossary (English–Punjabi)

Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU), Amritsar, in collaboration with the Commission for Scientific and Technical Terminology (CSTT), Ministry of Education, is set to host a five-day national workshop from June 9 to June 13, 2025, at the University School of Financial Studies.

This academically significant workshop is focused on the development of the Fundamental Glossary – Commerce (English–Punjabi), a key step toward promoting bilingual terminology and enhancing language accessibility in commerce education.

Prof. Karmjit Singh, Vice Chancellor of GNDU, is the Chief Patron of the initiative, reflecting the university’s dedication to inclusive and forward-thinking academic projects.

The event was inaugurated with grace and gravitas by Dr. Harsh Sadawarti, Vice Chancellor of Desh Bhagat University. In his keynote address, Dr. Sadawarti called for immediate and sustained efforts to protect nature and urged students to become ambassadors of sustainability in all spheres of life.

Punjab Police arrests two for cross-border arms smuggling; eight weapons seized

In a major breakthrough, Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence of Amritsar apprehended two people, Sukhchain Singh and Jugraj Singh, who were actively involved in cross-border arms smuggling and recovered eight weapons, police said on Friday.

Director General of Police, Gaurav Yadav, said that acting on specific Intelligence, these operatives were intercepted while transporting a consignment of illegal arms from Pakistan-based smuggler Noor.

The DGP wrote on social media handle X that three Glock 9mm pistols, four Px5 pistols and one .30 bore pistol were seized.

"A First Information Report (FIR) has been registered in Amritsar. Further investigation is underway to identify additional handlers and unearth the full extent of this smuggling network," the DGP added.

He added that the Sikhiya Kranti has provided them with the necessary support to excel in various fields. “These students are now scripting new success stories every day and bringing laurels to the state,” Bhagwant Singh Mann said.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the primary aim of Sikhiya Kranti is to make Punjab a frontrunner in the field of education. He expressed immense pride and satisfaction that the initiative is yielding outstanding results, with students proving their mettle across domains. The University School of Law of Sri Guru Granth Granth World University, Fatehgarh Sahib celebrated the World Environment Day on June 5 in collaboration with District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib.
The Chief Guest of the event  Ashok Kumar Chauhan, CJM cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Fatehgarh Sahib addressed the students at DLSA and joined the University authorities in Plantation drive at the University campus. While highlighting the importance of the day, he expressed that this year the World Environment Day aims to raise global awareness about the harmful impacts of plastic waste on ecosystems, wildlife, and human health. Plastic pollution has become a planetary crisis, with microplastics found in the deepest oceans, remote mountain peaks, and even inside the human body.
